These Drives are set to 520 Format
512 formatted drives are recognizable to windows and Linux whereas 520 format drives are tailored for working alongside a storage array control unit.
Using the DS2246
This is a slave unit and not a control unit. This means you need to have this connected to another system to access the hard drives. Make sure this system accepts 520 format, if it does not you will need to reformat the drives to 512 before being able to recognize the drives in this expansion array.
If connecting to a NetApp filer system, you can use the ACP ports on this unit to connect to your Network. Alternatively, to connect to other devices you will need to do this over an SAS SFF-8088 to QSFP cable.
If connecting to a server of desktop with a SAS to QSFP cable you will need to attach it to an External SAS HBA card. For example, we use the H200e for testing expansion which enables the expansion array to work for both Windows and Linux once drives are in the 512 format
